Apprehension of 1 Indian woman and seizure of cattle, ganja and other contraband

Troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of anti national elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and infiltrations & exfiltration under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF.            

                         

In this sequence, on 27 July 2022, acting on a tip-off, troops f 137 Battalion Border Security Force under Raiganj Sector of North Bengal Frontier deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal arrested 01 Indian smuggler (woman) was apprehended.  Who has been identified as Purnima Rai D/o Mahonto Rai, R/o Village-Naphor (Medical More Hilli), PS-Hili, District- Dakshin Dinajpur (West Bengal). 


The above woman was traveling in North Bengal State Transport Bus from Malda to Balurghat and with a trolley bag and hand bag. Based on the available information, the bus was chased by Border Security Force personnel. As soon as the bus reached near the Border Security Force premises, Patiram, the goods of the said woman were searched after stopping the bus. In which a large quantity of “Ganja” was found.  


Soon after, the woman was apprehended with the seized Ganja. And after general questioning, the woman was handed over to the police station Patiram along with the recovered items for further course of action. Smugglers adopt new methods every day for smuggling, but the ready and attentive soldiers of the Border Security Force are scuttling their plans.


                             

In addition to above, in the intervening night of 27 to 28 July 2022 troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 17 Cattle, 22 Kg Ganja and other contraband items from different border areas. 


The total value of seized items is Rs.2,57,473/-. Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh.
