Apprehension of two Indian national along with e-ricksha and recovery of huge quantity of contraband items

Troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and infiltrations & exfiltration under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF.
On 15 May 2023 (Monday) at about 1430 hrs, acting on a tip-off, alert troops of 137 Battalion BSF under Raiganj Sector in North Bengal Frontier deployed on the Indo-Bangladesh border at BOP Durgapur in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal apprehended 01 Indian national namely Bikram Laha (28 yrs) S/o Uttam Laha, Vill- Binchira, PO- Teor, PS- Hili, Dstt- Dakshin Dinajpur near BOP Durgapur along with one E-Riksha. On thorough checking, a huge number of contraband items were recovered which was meant for smuggling from India to Bangladesh. The apprehended Indian National alongwith E-Riksha and the contraband items were handed over to Customs Officials at PS-Balurghat.
In addition to the above, from 14.05.2023 to 15.05.2023, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 01 cattle and 1898 bottles of Phensedyl group of syrup and other contraband items from different border area. The total value of seized items is Rs. 3,96,165/- Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh.
