Troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and infiltrations & exfiltration under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF.



On 27.05.2023 (Saturday) at about 1425 hrs, acting on a tip-off, alert troops of 151 Battalion BSF under Siliguri Sector in North Bengal Frontier deployed at ICP Fulbari apprehended 01 Indian national namely Bhabesh Sarkar (32 Yrs) S/O-Supen Sarkar,Vill -Parimal Nagar,PO – Matigara,PS –Matigara,Distt-Darjeeling(WB) and 01 BD national namely Sukumar Roy (36 Yrs) S/O - Jitendranath Roy,Vill- Sonapota Pachcoto,PO – Lokirhat,PS – Debiganj,Distt- Panchgarh (BD) while coming from Zero point to India. On thorough checking, 02 mobile phones, Indian currency Rs 2830/-, BD taka 35,000/- and other items were recovered from them. The Bangladeshi national Sukumar Roy was under treatment in Siliguri on medical visa. Both apprehended persons along with seized items were handed over to PS- New Jalpaiguri.


In addition to the above, from 26.05.2023 to 28.05.2023, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 09 cattle and 962 bottles of Phensedyl group of cough syrup and other contraband items from different border area. The total value of seized items is Rs. 3,69,138/-. Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh.
