Professor Om Prakash Mishra has assumed the responsibility of the Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal University from today for next two months. Hon’ble Chancellor of the NBU His Excellency Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal has appointed him as the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Government of West Bengal, through notification No. 272-Edn (U)/NBU-12/99 (PT-III) dated 21.03.2023, has communicated his appointment as interim Vice-Chancellor. This is the third time when Prof. Mishra has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor by the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University.
All sections of the university community comprising of teachers, officers, non-teaching staff, students and research scholars have heartily welcomed the assumption of the responsibility by Professor Mishra. He has also met and briefly interacted with 32 Principals of affiliated colleges of NBU who were in a meeting in the university in regard to implementation of certain aspects of implementation of new Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes.
Immediately after assumption of the office, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor has appointed Dr. Nupur Das, Principal Secretary of the Under Graduate Council as the officiating Registrar of the University. He has also appointed Dr. Amlan Majumder, Associate Professor and former Head of the Department of Economics as officiating Finance Officer. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor has also initiated necessary steps and approval process in regard to all the pending issues which needed Vice-Chancellor’s approval.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor has also assured of all cooperation to the Darjeeling Hills University and has assured to work in close cooperation with Prof. Prem Poddar who is expected to assume responsibility of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Darjeeling Hills University on 23rd March, 2023.
