Troops of under command Battalions of north Bengal Frontier BSF deployed Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and infiltrations & exfiltration under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF.
On 02 Dec 2022, acting on tip off, troops of BOP Bheem of 06 Battalion BSF under Raiganj Sector in Coochbehar district of West Bengal apprehended 01 Bangladeshi National namely Sanjay Sarkar (29 yrs) S/o Late Ajit Sarkar, Vill-Konakhola, PS-Keraniganj, Distt–Dhaka (Bangladesh) alongwith his two Indian associates namely Samrat Mondal (28 yrs) S/o Sanjay Mondal, Vill-Netaji Colony Dabgram, PS–Bhakti Nagar, Distt–Jalpaiguri (WB) with his mother from the general area of Teenbigha Corridor while trio were proceeding clandestinely towards Mekhliganj from Kuchlibari. Apprehended Bangladeshi National was illegally crossed border through unfenced area of Dahagram-Angrapota Enclave while apprehended duo Indian Nationals were came from Bhaktinagar, Jalpaiguri to receive the Bangladeshi National. Bangladeshi Taka 65, Indian Currency Rs.13,470/- and 05 Nos of Mobile were recovered from their possession. Apprehended trio with seized items were handed over to PS Kuchlibari.
In addition to above, from 02 to 03 Dec 2022, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 03 Cattle, 255 Bottles of Phensedyl, BD Taka 65, Indian Currency Rs.13,470/- and other contraband items from different border area. The total value of seized items is Rs.1,64,114/-. Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh.
