On 23 Nov 2022, acting on the tip off, troops of BOP Chakgopal of 137 Battalion BSF under Raiganj Sector in North Bengal Frontier deployed on Indo-Bangladesh Border in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal recovered 01 Jar containing suspected Snake Venom (2.140 Kg) which was wrapped in a black plastic bag and hiddenin in wild grass beneath of a culvert in the general area of Kalibadi village under PS Hili in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal. The approx. value of this Snake Venom is Rupees Seventeen Crores (as per international black market). The Jar had markings “Cobra SP Red Dragon, Made in France Code No.6097”. According to available. Seized jar of snake venom was handed over to Forest Beat Office Balurghat.
Earlier also on 01 Sept 2022, acting on real time information, troops of BOP Digipara of 61 Battalion Border Security Force deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border in Dakshin Dinajpur District of West Bengal had recovered 01 No of snake venom from the border area.
In addition to above, from 22 & 24 Nov 2022, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 06 Cattle, 200 Bottles of Phensedyl, 01 Jar of Snake Venom and other contraband items from different border areas. The total value of seized items is Rs.17,02,49,052/-. Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh.
Troops of under command Battalions of north Bengal Frontier BSF deployed Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and infiltrations & exfiltration under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF.
