Apprehension of 5 Bangladeshi nationals & 1 Indian tout and seizure of phensedyl and other contraband items from border

On 19 Nov 2022, acting on the tip off, troops of BOP Teenbigha of 06 Battalion BSF under Jalpaiguri Sector in North Bengal Frontier deployed on Indo-Bangladesh Border in Coochbehar district of West Bengal apprehended 04 BD Nationals namely i) Md Reyas (22 Yrs) S/O Abul Foyas, ii) Ziyaur Rahman (25 Yrs) S/O Kabir Ahmed, iii) Rubina (19 Yrs, Female) W/O Ziraman, iv) Nur Islam (18 Yrs) S/O Jakir, all are R/O Vill-Balukhali, PS-Ukhiya Sadar, Distt-Ukhiya (Bangladesh) and 01 Indian Tout namely Manil Roy (33 Yrs; Indian Tout), S/O Rajen Roy, Vill-Sukanto Nagar Colony, PS-Kotwali, Distt-Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) from the general area of Teenbigha Corridor while they were proceeding Kuchlibari to Mekhliganj. Indian Currency Rs.9,580/- and 06 Mobile Phones were recovered from their possession. Apprehended persons with seized items were handed over to PS Kuchlibari. 


Before this, 01 Indian Tout alongwith 02 Bangladeshi Nationals was also apprehended by BSF troops from the area of 06 Battalion BSF on 26 July 2022.


In another incident, on 19 Nov 2022, troops of BOP Madhavpur of 26 Battalion BSF under Sector Raiganj in North Bengal Frontier deployed on Indo-Bangladesh in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal apprehended 01 BD National namely Md Jahangir Alam (27 Yrs), S/o Raja Miya, R/O Vill-Govind Raidevdhar, PS-Sadullapur, Distt-Gaibanda (Bangladesh) while he was trying to cross border illegally. Apprehended Bangladesh National handed over to PS Patiram. 


In addition to above, from 19 & 20 Nov 2022, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 166 Bottles of Phensedyl, Indian Currency Rs.9,580/- and other contraband items from different border areas. The total value of seized items is Rs.4,06,651/-. Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh.


Troops of under command Battalions of north Bengal Frontier BSF deployed Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and infiltrations & exfiltration under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF.
