Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won three out of four seats in the bypolls as people did not have faith in the Congress and the Left, after being declared victorious from the Bardowali assembly constituency. Saha said that in the Agartala constituency, the BJP candidate lost by only 3169 votes due to the friendship between the Left and the Congress.

It is clear that Sudip Roybarman has won as the Communist Party of India (CPI-M) votes in favor. He said that he was always confident of his victory. “I know that the people of Tripura, including a large number of CPI(M) supporters, are happy with the (Centre) government led by Narendra Modi. I was made the Chief Minister before I was elected MLA, it is indeed a unique feeling. In the next assembly elections, BJP will get victory in the seats dominated by the opposition.

He said, 'I now have four responsibilities: I am the chief minister, I am the state unit president of the party, I am a Rajya Sabha MP and now I have become an MLA from the city. I am overwhelmed by the trust I have received from people. I will do my best in the next six-seven months. It is noteworthy that the assembly elections in Tripura are due early next year.
