A Guinness World Record has declared a 25-year-old tiger living in a Texas sanctuary the oldest tiger in captivity for 319 years.

According to Guinness World Records, the Bengali tiger came to Tyler's Tiger Sanctuary in 2000 and was confirmed to be the oldest living tiger in captivity.

Typically, tigers live 15 to 20 years in captivity and only 12 years in the wild.

It is known that the tiger has no cubs. However, the staff is considering him as an important part of the tiger conservation effort.

"We are extremely honored and proud to know that we have the oldest tiger in captivity. We care deeply for every animal in Tiger Creek and keeping Bengalis healthy and happy for so many years is an incredible achievement for the sanctuary," said sanctuary officials.

A few days ago, the zoo celebrated its 26th birthday. The record of Bengalis is expected to increase further.
