In a major upsurge in the cabinet reshuffle in Britain, Finance Minister of Pakistani origin Sajid Javid has resigned and Rishi Sunak of Indian origin has been replaced as UK's Finance Minister.

Rishi Sunak, 39, is the son-in-law of Narayana Murthy, the founder of India's well-known IT company Infosys.

In the cabinet of Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Britain, three MPs of Indian origin have now been made ministers of important departments.

Two other ministers - Preeti Patel and Alok Sharma - are also in Boris Johnson's cabinet.

47-year-old Preeti Patel was made Home Minister by Boris Johnson last year.  Boris Johnson also assigned him the responsibility by removing Sajid Javid.

At the same time, 51-year-old Alok Sharma, born in Agra, has been made Minister of Business (Business Secretary) in the new cabinet.

In the UK elections held in December last year, 15 MPs of Indian origin were elected.

Britain-born Rishi Sunak was elected a second-time MP from the Richmond (York) seat last year.

He was currently a junior minister in the government.  Earlier in 2018, he was made the UK Housing Minister.

His father was a doctor and his mother ran a pharmacy.  His wife Akshata is the daughter of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy.

The Ministry of Finance is considered the second most important position in the British Government.

Rishi Sunak is the first MP of Indian origin to reach such an important position in Britain.
