Ajit Singh, head of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said on Friday that he would request the Delhi Police to allow his team to interrogate alleged bookie Sanjeev Chawla. Sanjeev Chawla, the prime accused in the match-fixing case involving former captain of South Africa cricket team Hansi Cronje, was extradited from Britain on Thursday after which a Delhi court sent him to 12 days police custody.

Chawla has challenged the court's decision in the Delhi High Court. Singh said that by interrogating Chawla, the BCCI can get some necessary information for future investigations. Singh told PTI, "We will contact Delhi Police as he is in their custody." We would like to know from Delhi Police what information it has shared. If possible, we would also like to interrogate him, but it completely depends on the permission of Delhi Police. '

He said, 'This is an old case. We would like to inquire from him and gather such facts which have not been revealed yet. ”Singh said,“ He will also have knowledge about others involved in betting and may be that bookmaker is still active. Even if he is out of our reach, at least we will have his information. '
