It is reported that platforms like WhatsApp and Signal do not cooperate with law enforcement agencies citing end-to-end encryption.  Officials said that these platforms also do not honor requests made under the law.

 End-to-end encryption means that only the sender and receiver have access to the message.  Nobody else can know about this.  The panel is exploring the issue of pornography on social media and its effects on children.  Earlier this month, Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu formed an ad hoc committee (ad hoc committee) on the 'dangerous issue' of pornography on social media and its impact on children and society.
 The panel consists of 14 members from 10 political parties and has held several meetings.  It has discussed this with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the telecom regulator TRAI and social media platforms.  In a comment before the panel, the ministry said that they face a number of legal challenges from social media platforms on the issue of pornography and 'when asked for information or investigation (they) claim that they are  Are governed by law. '

 The committee is headed by Congress MP Jairam Ramesh and is expected to submit a report next month.  Members of the group include Amar Patnaik, Ami Yagnik, Dola Sen, Jaya Bachchan, Kahakshan Parveen, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MV Rajeev Gowda, Rupa Ganguly, Sanjay Singh, Tiruchi Siva, Vandana Chavan, Vijila Satyanath and Vinay P.
