Dayadra mandal, Kolkata:

Former captain of the Indian cricket team Anil Kumble has been appointed by Kings XI Punjab as their head coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to 'Cricinfo', Kumble has been given the responsibility of all activities related to the team's cricket.

Kumble, 48, is the only Indian coach in the IPL. The report told that on October 19, Kumble will put his plans for the future in front of the team management.

Kumble has taken the most wickets for India in Test cricket and will replace New Zealand's Mike Hewson in the Punjab team, who separated himself from the team playing in the IPL in August.

Hewson had signed a two-year deal with the team, but he left his post midway. Punjab will be the third team of the IPL, with whom Kumble will join. Prior to this, he has joined the team of Bengaluru and Mumbai. In June 2016, he was also appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.
