Kolkata Police on Wednesday arrested the accused of diamond theft from the airport.  Earlier, police had arrested another accused in the case.  Police have also recovered diamonds by digging at the accused's base by about three feet.  Police said that both the accused were masterminds in several cases of diamond theft across the country.  He is being questioned in custody.

 According to the information received, the Detective Department of the Anti-Burglary Section of Mumbai arrested Mannan Sheikh and Shakeel Hussain of Guptipara from Kolkata Airport on Wednesday.  Police said Hussain had recently started working at a goldsmith.

He told that the residents of Girish Park on August 23, diamond merchant Prashant Mall gave 97 pieces of diamonds to goldsmiths to make gold necklaces, which Husain sold to Sheikh for 30 thousand.  Its market price is said to be 50 lakhs.

After the investigation of the case, the police arrested Hussain and on his spotlight reached Sheikh's house in Guptipara.  A senior police officer said that Sheikh hid a diamond necklace at his Guptipara base.  He told that for the recovery of necklace, he had to dig 3 feet at his base.  After investigation, it is revealed that Sheikh sent Hussain to Goldsmith's job as part of a planning.  Police said that Sheikh has committed diamond theft in many parts of the country by using Hussain in similar manner.
