The release of sun after uninterrupted rains in Kerala brought some relief to the flood affected areas on Thursday.  The water has receded from many low-lying areas, which has started normalizing the situation in the state.

 Meanwhile, the death toll due to floods in the state has increased to 104 while 34 others are missing.  Rainfall has decreased in this southern state of the country, no red alert has been issued in any of the 14 districts of the state.  According to Meteorological Department officials, an 'Orange Alert' was issued in Kannur and Kasargod districts of the state on Thursday.

 Orange alert means heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at some places, while a 'Yellow Alert' (strong rain) has been issued for Friday in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod.  The search operation is on at Puthumala in Wayanad and Kavalappara in Malappuram, where two villages had been gutted due to several landslides that occurred one by one last week, which are believed to have been buried alive there.  .

 By 3 pm, the report released by the government said that 104 people have died due to floods and landslides across the state.  According to government figures, a total of 11 thousand 901 houses have been partially damaged while 1115 have been completely damaged.
