The officials of Swiggy and Zomato got complaint notices from the food safety section of uttarakhand health department. The notice stated that they have violated the municipal norms by delivering non-veg food items to the restricted areas of the holy city.

According to reports the deputy food safety officer of Haridwar, RS Pal said the residents of locality complained to the city magistrate Jagdish Lal about the scenario.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence which is needed to be present with the two food companies were not there. Which they failed to show when investigated by the teams which went there to inspect their offices.

They also dint have the no-objection certificates from the municipal corporation for delivering non-veg items in there.they said that they have violated the bylaws of the holy city and have hurted the sentiments of the locals.

Jawalapur, Har-ki-Pauri, Kankhal, Kharkhari, Motichur and Haripur areas are the places where delivering non-veg food item is prohibited.

On enquiry Zomato said that they were working on the lisence from FSSAI since last year and they hope they will provide them with it sooner. And Swiggy was resentful for such activities and they also stated that they have a central FSSAI license.
