Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday said that its campaign for the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been stopped till the end of general elections, because he does not want it to be an electoral issue. The organization has announced this after a few days of the Synod organized by VHP in Prayagraj.
Significantly, the proposal was accepted in the House of Commons that till the construction of the grand temple of Ramayana in Ayodhya, Hindus will not sit down and will not allow others to sit comfortably. VHP, which has been leading the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, has been campaigning for the last several months and demanding that a law be passed from the Parliament for the construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. Under this campaign, VHP has organized rallies across the country and has met every MP's MPs.
VHP's International Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain said, "VHP has decided to stop its campaign for the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya on the birthplace of Lord Rama till the general elections are over, because the organization does not want it to be an election issue." Jain said that the organization is committed to the issue of construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and will set forth the strategy for the formation of a new government. Lok Sabha elections are likely in April-May.
