The State Bank of India to restrict net banking facility for its customers

The State Bank of India (SBI), to restrict net banking facility for customers who have not registered their mobile numbers with their respective bank accounts.

The bank has informed the customers on their internet banking website 'onlinesbi' that if they do not register their mobile number till December 1, then they will not be able to take advantage of net banking facility. If mobile number is registered in the bank then nothing needs to be done.

SBI wrote on the website, "INB Customers,  if you have not yet registered your mobile, please visit the branch immediately. If not, internet banking facility can be closed from 1.12.18".

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had asked the banks in a circular issued on July 6, 2017 to ask their customers to register essentially for SMS and Email Alerts.

To check whether your number is registered or not:

1. Visit www.onlinesbi.com. Enter Login and Password Details.
2. After logging in, click the 'My Account and Profile' tab on the homepage.
3. Click on 'Profile' under the 'My account and Profile' tab.
4. Now click on 'Personal Details / Mobile'.
5. Now you will be asked for profile password. Keep in mind, the profile password is different from the login password.
6. You can see the mobile number and email id partially as you enter the correct profile password.

If your mobile number is not registered you will have to go to the bank's home branch.
