Student suspended from college for celebrating Bhagat Singh's birthday

Coimbatore: There has been a controversy once again regarding the intolerance and freedom of expression in a college campus in Tamil Nadu. In the Government Arts and Science College, a student has been suspended for commemorating the birth anniversary of Shahid Bhagat Singh.
Strict laws have been made in the state for public demonstrations over the last two years. On doing so, the government is acting in the act of state crime, illegal activities (Prevention) Act, Gunda Act and NSA.
A student of MA history, S Malti celebrated the birth anniversary of martyr Bhagat Singh on October 1. For this, a 45-minute event was held on September 28 in which many other students were involved.
Student said that he had sought permission from college administration to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in college campus, along with other students. The college administration refused to allow them. The student said that the principal said that we can organize with permission from head of the department.
The department's HOD was on leave, so the people asked permission from another teacher. They also refused. The student said, 'We were not going to do any such illegal activity. When permission was not given, we celebrated the birth anniversary with some students at a very small level. The students repeatedly paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and said their words about them. This event was just 40 minutes. '
