India elected as UNHRC member

India's uncontested election is almost certain as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council from the Asia-Pacific region. The United Nations 193-member General Assembly will elect new members of the Human Rights Council for the next three years on Friday. Members of the Council are elected on the basis of a complete majority by secret ballot.
To be elected to the Council, any country needs at least 97 votes. There are a total of five seats in the Human Rights Council from the Asia-Pacific region for which Bahrain, besides India,Bangladesh, Fiji and Philippine have their nominations full With five claimants for five seats, all these uncontested elections are decided.
