Fuel Prices continue to hike creating tension among people

Petrol rates increased by 18 paisa on Saturday. After this increase, prices in Delhi were Rs 82.66 and Rs 88.12 in Mumbai. In Delhi, diesel rose by 29 paise and by 31 paise in Mumbai. Petrol prices have hiked for the third consecutive day, whereas rates of diesel for the eight consecutive day.

On October 4, the center reduced the excise duty by Rs 1.5 to petrol and diesel. Oil companies reduced rupee 1 on the government's directive. In this way people got relief of Rs 2.5. However, consumers are not getting relief from rising prices continuously.

The Finance Ministry on Thursday said that oil companies will not be asked to reduce rates of petrol and diesel. Companies will remain free to decide prices.
